| DIDI G. Didi’s father died leaving his already poor family with nothing. A man met Didi’s mother and gave her food and alcohol. When Didi’s mother was drunk the man told her he wanted to buy her daughter and bring her to India. Intoxicated, she agreed. The next morning when the liquor had wore off the mother refused to sell her daughter. When the man asked for the money he has spent on food and alcohol for the women, Didi’s mother gave her daughter to the man. When the border patrol rescued Didi at the border, Didi’s mother did not want her back. Didi was brought to the Rehab Center and has been here receiving non-formal education and care. |
