This page is set up for you to get to know the amazing girls that have gone through this horrible ordeal. We will not only tell their painfully true stories, but will keep you updated on their progress. Some of the names will be changed to protect the girls identity. These courageous girls share their stories in the hopes that doing so will wake people up to get involved to do something to stop the trafficking of women and especially, children. Carmen The first story we will share is of a young girl now a young woman, living outside the house. She is a success story, and her name is Carmen. At the age of 12 she left home feeling the fighting that took place within the walls was somehow her fault. For a few days she stayed with her Grandmother, but returned home hoping that the fighting would stop. It was not to be, instead abuse waited for her, she was beaten. The next day she would leave again and not return. For the next 4 months she lived on the streets, sleeping on the stairs of a block of flats. When she first stepped out on the streets it was summer and weather was not a factor. Now the weather began to change, and she started to look for help. What was to at first to appear to Carmen as an answer would turn out to be anything but. Carmen met a woman, who offered her a place to stay. She never asked questions all she knew was that she no longer had to stay on the streets. Well, she came to find out that her hostess was involved in the trafficking of girls. Carmen had never heard of such a thing and didn't know what lay ahead of her. Six months later she would be put out to work in the sex trade. Carmen says that "This is a profession you learn according to what the client wishes, you can never master it fully ......" When she first began this nightmare she said she used to drink and take drugs, not wanting to understand or feel the emotions of what was happening to her. At 14 an ID was obtained for her and they sent her to Turkey, where she would spend the next 9 months. There in Turkey the police picked her up while she was being prostituted and after questioning they found out her age. They sent her back to Romania, where what she refers to as her lady master was waiting to take custody of her. She was only to be back for a short time, they would marry her to a man so her name would not be the same and they sent her to Spain. Upon arrival she was to be met by an entire network of traffickers. They took her to a club, where she was not allowed to leave. She would be kept prisoner in a house where she slept during the day, and was forced to go with clients at night. One day while there she was to meet a good man that helped her to get out. At the age of 15 she finally made her way to the safe house in Romania with the help of Iana Matei. That chapter of her ordeal was over and a new one could now begin. It would be a long difficult journey to getting her life back but with the help of Reaching Out Carmen is now back in school and now has a goal of being a counselor. Pray for her to continue on this path and be able to see this dream come true. |
